In 1980, in Iecava, a small boy was born, who was named Arvis and whose family is connected with the Bernhold family, who, since being driven out of the Riga Citadel in the 13th century, have brewed beer and have been members of the Riga Brewers’ Guild.

Therefore, Arvis Rubenis’ life was connected with beer brewing from an early age. He inherited the traditions and secrets of brewing from his father’s family records. From the age of 18, Arvis already knew the aroma of freshly harvested hops.

Working as an apprentice in breweries in the Czech Republic, England, and Latvia over several years, Arvis mastered the art of brewing. For more than five years now, Arvis has been the head brewer at the “Vecrīga brewery Stargorod” brewery, following the latest beer production technologies and introducing new beer varieties so that our guests can enjoy the diverse flavor nuances of this wonderful drink.

Currently, “Vecrīga brewery Stargorod” offers popular beer varieties from Latvia and Europe, as well as produces kvass and non-alcoholic beer. Arvis carefully oversees the technological process, trains brewers, and ensures that the entire brewing process complies with the implemented technologies.
